This circa 1880 long nose putter is unmarked except for the shaft which
is stamped “W. Hewitt.” It has a nice head shape and original sheepskin
grip. A good long nose example at a great price! $1300
The head is crescent shaped in cross section. Hence, the face
has a large curve, top to bottom. Patented in the UK in 1926. This
example is formerly part of the Fred Frey collection and is in clean
original condition. the picture shown is not this actual putter, but is

The head is made from two pieces of metal: a steel hosel that sockets
into a gunmetal blade. Grip is sewn, not wrapped, sheepskin. Covered under

The face on this putter is curved heel to toe similar to the face of
the Forgan MaxMo putter below but is harder to find. Weights in the
toe and heel of the sole, underneath 2 brass plates. Made in the US in

Face is curved, heel to toe, with weights placed under aluminum plates
behind the heel and toe. Patented in 1929 by Norman Main. He thought
that such features would redirect mis-hit putts back towards the toe with
